Stockport County 2-3 Wrexham
Blue Square Premier League
10 October, 2012
Edgley Park, Stockport
Another 3 points and another banana skin out of the way as our 2012/13 promotion season spreads its wings and flies. Its always a pleasure to do County and Wrexham smiles were as broad as Gutermans arse on the short trip back to civilisation.
A humdrum match burst into life in the 83rd minute when, with the game in the balance, Joe Clarke was introduced to the field of battle.
With penalty king Neil Ashton sent off for looking at the ref in a funny way it needed all of Joe’s cunning and match savvy to steady the ship and ensure that the three points went to the right home.
A bruising encounter with another rough set of fellows will see the Town play Lincoln on Saturday with Joe Clarke and 10 others on account of the number of cards issued by the appalling referee.
Onwards and upwards though! The reds are going up!!
The bonds grow stronger for Mozza’s men of steel.
A shocking performance from a referee who must have been born within walking distance of Stockport’s attractive neo-brutalist town centre.
JCP Man of the Match
Once again so many excellent performances to choose from. A solid performance from young Andy between the posts. Goalkeepers thrive on confidence and the 96 minutes will do him the world of good.
The back four put in a stout hearted performance against a lively County attack. Young Riley continues to impress.
The midfield performances are now reaching such a high standard that we are running out of superlatives to describe them and the forwards, particularly Wright, kept the County defence occupied all night.
It has been a very difficult decision and we have debated the matter for many hours. However we cannot overlook another matchwinning performance from everybody’s favourite number 14.
Doing the work of two men and coaxing greater effort from his less talented colleagues we purred with pleasure as we saw the great man go about his work. Step forward Joe Clarke, man of the match for the second time in a week.
